Olivet Neighborhood Mission partners with the Boys and Girls Club of Cedar Rapids to offer programming. The focus of our youth programs is to build character, and support education and structure during an otherwise unsupervised time for at-risk children, ages 5-13 years old.
After School Program
The After School Program takes place during a vital part of the day: after the school day is over, but before the business day has come to an end. This is a time when many youth lack structure and engagement. The program not only continues their education with qualified instructors, but also provides a safe environment and structured fun activities for children after school. Children benefit from volunteers who help with homework, character building, responsibility and leadership development. The After School Program meets daily during the school year from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. A range of 55 to 75 children are supported through this program each school day and each child is provided with healthy and nutritional snacks. An evening meal is also offered for those that may otherwise not receive one at home.
Summer Recreation Program
The Summer Recreation Program is held daily when school is out of session. This program offers a full day of supervision and structured activities for children ages 5-13 years old. The summer program meets Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Children that participate in this program are given a healthy morning and afternoon snack, and a hot lunch.
To participate – register in the fall for the After School Program and in the spring for the Summer Recreation Program. Registration takes place onsite at the Olivet Neighborhood Mission. Programs are free of charge to participants.
